EXCERPT

Sarah stands up and presses her lips against mine. And it’s so unexpected, so surprising—I freeze up. But only for a moment. As her mouth gently moves over mine, I begin to thaw. She’s so fucking soft, her taste so very sweet. The kiss is almost chaste—at least it’s the most chaste I’ve ever had. Unpracticed.

And yet, it still manages to make my heart pound against my ribs like an animal in a cage.

“What are you doing?” I whisper, when she pulls back just a little.

“I’m distracting you.” She looks up at me uncertainly. From behind those ridiculously prim little glasses with those big, dark eyes that could bring me to my knees. “Is it working?”

My tongue traces my lower lip, craving more of her.

“I’m not sure. Keep trying—I’ll let you know.”

She smiles quick and relieved . . . and then she reaches back up, wraps her arms about my neck, and kisses me.

Her two lips envelop my lower one, then the upper, all eager, pleasing sweetness. My hands find Sarah’s lower back and I pull her in close, tight against me. Slowly, I open my mouth and she mirrors my movement, opening for me. And it’s good. So very, very good.

It’s like my blood has turned to gasoline, and the touch of her wet, warm tongue is the spark.

I delve deeper, kiss her harder—more demanding—taking the lead. I cup her head in my hands, holding her still while I plunge and devour. A moan seeps from her lips and I devour that too.

But then, breathing harshly, I tear my mouth away.

“Sarah, maybe we shouldn’t. Maybe we should just—”

“I’m sick of being afraid, Henry. And I’m so tired of being alive . . . but not really living. I’ve wanted this for a long time. I want . . . you.” It’s only then that hesitation dims her eyes. “Do you want me too?”

I grip her arms. “More than I’ve wanted anything or anyone in my entire life.”

She takes my hands in hers, lifts them and presses my palms to her breasts. They’re soft and full and absolutely perfect.

“Show me.”

Beneath her robe, her bedclothes are paper thin. I trace my thumbs across her nipples, feeling them harden and peak. I want to suck on them until she’s mindless. I want to lick every inch of her skin and watch her flush with desire.

I wrap my arms around Sarah and lift her right off her feet. With a groan, my mouth is back to hers. Her small pretty hands cup my jaw as I carry her toward the bed. I stop against a wall on the way, knocking a frame sideways, lifting her leg in one hand and wrapping it around my hip so I can thrust against her.

There’s so much I know—deviant, filthy, lovely moves. And I want to teach her every damn one.

“Are you a virgin?” I ask.

“Well . . . yes.”

“Then why are you complaining? You qualify.”

Sarah’s eyes flash with annoyance. “Because I’m more than my hymen, Henry! To base the value of an accomplished, intelligent woman on a flimsy piece of skin is degrading. How would you feel if your worth rested on your foreskin?”

I think it over. And then I grin. “I’d be all right with that, actually. I’ve heard it was an impressive foreskin—all the nurses were fawning over it. It’s probably being showcased in a museum right now.”

She stares at me for a beat, then she laughs out loud—a rich, throaty, sensual sound.

“You’re a terrible human being.”

“I know.” I shake my head at the calamity of it all.

“And you’re an even worse feminist.”

“Agreed. That’s something I need to work on. You’ll help me, won’t you? We should spend as much time together as possible—every minute of the day and night. I’m hoping you’ll rub off on me.”

Sarah pushes my shoulder. “You’re just hoping I’ll rub you off.”

Now it’s my turn to laugh. Because she’s not even a little bit wrong.

“But there’s never been anyone? Really?”

Sarah shrugs. “Penny and I were tutored at home when we were young . . . but in year ten, there was this one boy.”

I rub my hands together. “Here we go—tell me everything. I want all the sick, lurid details. Was he a footballer? Captain of the team, the most popular boy in school?”

“He was captain of the chess team.”

I cover my eyes with my hand.

“His name was Davey. He wore these adorable tweed jackets and bow ties, he had blond hair and was a bit pale because of the asthma. He had the same glasses as me and he had a different pair of argyle socks for every day of the year.”

“I am so disappointed in you right now.”

“He was nice,” she chides. “You leave my Davey alone.”

I shake my head. “So what happened to old Davey boy?”

“I was alone in the library one day and he came up and started to ask me to the spring social. And I was so excited and nervous I could barely breathe. And then before he could finish the question, I . . .”

I don’t realize I’m leaning toward her until she stops talking and I almost fall over.

“You . . . what?”

Sarah hides behind her hands.

“I threw up on him.”

And I try not to laugh. I swear I try . . . but I’m only human. So I end up laughing so hard the car shakes and I can’t speak for several minutes.

“Christ almighty.”

“And I’d had fish and chips for lunch.” Sarah’s laughing too. “It was awful.”

“Oh you poor thing.” I shake my head, still chuckling. “And poor Davey.”

“Yes.” She wipes under her eyes with her finger. “Poor Davey. He never came near me again after that.”

“Coward—he didn’t deserve you. I would’ve swam through a whole lake of puke to take a girl like you to the social.”

She smiles so brightly at me, her cheeks maroon and round like two shiny apples.

“I think that’s the nicest thing anyone’s ever said to me.”

I wiggle my eyebrows. “I’m all about the compliments.”

2017 | Week 2 | January 8 – January 14

I’m really enjoying 2017 so far. It’s been kind of stress-free for me. I’m not really pushing  myself to read or watch something and then getting upset if I don’t do that. Like hey, if I was able to read 10 pages today that was great. If I was able to read 100 pages that’s also great. I’m taking this year in stride.

tumblr_oi8ae5sfgm1qg9snho1_540

Despite taking things slow I do feel like I read a lot this week. Which was honestly probably just because I didn’t work a lot.

I started the Lord John Grey series by Diana Gabaldon. It was published kind of weirdly so I went from reading about 40 pages of Lord John and the Hand of the Devils to starting LJ and the Private Matter. And after that I’ll go back to Hand of the Devils. It’s a lot of bouncing around. But I really love John Grey so so much. I’m really excited to see more of him in season 3 of Outlander. By the way ‘Bones Bad Bones’ by Asbjorn is a perfect song to represent John’s feelings for Jamie alright.

I also read Lucian Divine by Renee Carlino. Not really my favorite from her. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars though. It was different from what she usually writes and yet it was so similar?

And I started listening to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I’m really glad I’m listening to the audiobook because I just noticed that the copy I have that came in a boxed set is really messed up. Like there’s entire pages just covered in ink. It’s just that one book that’s like that. I got the set years ago so there’s really nothing I can do about it now. Other than that I’m really loving listening to it. HBP is one of my favorites out of the movies and I think the book is just bringing so much more to the story.

I don’t think I really watched a lot of tv this week though. I did watch the first episode of the new show ‘Taboo’ and I’m not sure how I feel about it. It has Tom Hardy though so I’ll keep watching for now.

Oh! I don’t think I discussed this in my last post but in 2017 I’m going to try and watch most of the dvds I own. I always end up buying them and never watching them. I was going in alphanumeric order but that got a little messed up. So far I’ve watched: 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street, 17 Again, and Drive. I’d forgotten how much I loved each of these. Especially 17 Again. I didn’t remember it being that funny but it was.

Lastly, I just ordered season 9 of Heartland on dvd even though it’s 50 freaking dollars. I think when I bought seasons 1 through 7 it was around $120 total so I feel like $50 for one season is just insane. But I’ve been checking every single day for the price to drop and it. Just. Won’t. I got tired of waiting. Hopefully I can get around to rewatching the entire series very soon.

This week I’m going to be working more which.. yay! bigger paycheck to buy more books but also… less time to read those books. Oh well, it’ll be over before I know it!

Nothing seems to be working out, and she’s starting to think that she’ll live out her days in her crummy apartment with her overbearing roommate, Brooklyn. And then he does. Seriously. His name is Lucian and he’s a guardian angel, been on the job for two thousand years. Teasers

“You are everything to me. You’re the dream, the air, the reason, the cause for my whole existence.” -Lucian

“I’m on the other side of life, Evey, existing where death belongs and yearning to be with you. Yearning in brief moments to bring you here, into the darkness. When my thoughts are so painfully selfish, I cannot breathe you in at all. I cannot love you when I hate myself. Don’t say my name. Don’t think about me. Don’t imagine how we can be together.” -Lucian

“Evey, next time, in the next life we’ll be together—that’s how this will be corrected. This will be righted. This can’t be our forever fate. Next time we’ll live together, we’ll die together. We’ll experience every war together, inside ourselves and outside in the world. We won’t be out of reach, unavailable, unattainable, just love longing to be. Let’s keep moving fast in opposite directions. Keep praying we meet on the other side. I’ll see you there; I know I will. I have to believe that. Watch for me. I’ll be barreling toward you, arms wide open, and then we’ll crash into each other with the force of two spent lives yearning to be one.” -Lucian

2017 – Week 1

Wow my blog has been.. dead. I got an email for some posts I signed up for months ago and I was like, oh yeah, I have a blog still. The end of 2016 was just kind of weird and I really let this blog sit dormant for too long. So to hopefully get me posting more and on a regular basis in 2017, I’m going to make weekly posts just talking about what I did that week. Mostly re: reading, but I may talk about shows I’ve been watching too. You may remember my WWW Wednesday posts and this is something similar but with less structure? Hopefully that’ll make it less repetitive.

January 1 – January 7

The very first book I read this year was the New Moon graphic novel. Volume 1 of course because we’re still waiting on any news about volume 2. I was reading the Twilight graphic novels on NYE to help me reach my reading goal, which it did! So then at midnight I was ready for the New Moon GN and I flew through it.

giphy

Later that day after I got some much needed sleep, I started on Too Late by Colleen Hoover. My gosh… this was a very powerful book. It was tough to get through though. Some of the events started to make me physically sick to be honest but Colleen’s writing is incredible. Shoutout to all of the people who read it when it was posted on wattpad because that would have stressed me out so bad.

Right now I’m reading Thirteen Reasons Why. I love this book so much so when I heard there was going to be a 10th anniversary edition I got sooo excited. I’ve found lately that when I re-read books, I like to listen to the audiobook instead. I wish I’d listened to 13RW the first time I read it because this audiobook is fantastic.

As for shows, I started rewatching Sherlock before I start the new season. It’s so weird knowing there’s going to be more than one episode in one year. How long has it even been since season 3 ended? Like 2 years? Anyways that’s where I’m currently at. I still have the last episode of season 3 and then the special episode and I can start watching season 4 finally!

tumblr_myzpqh1a3k1r00543o4_r4_250

And last but not least… I am officially SKAM Trash. Around the beginning of December I saw a video on youtube about Isak and it looked good so I looked it up and for some reason I was under the impression that each season had a completely different cast? So I just wanted to watch the season Isak was on. I wish I’d known otherwise and started with season 1 but it doesn’t really change anything expect for the fact that, within one month, I’ve seen season 3 three times, and I’m currently watching season 1 for the third time. I’m not saying I’m obsessed but I’m obsessed.

tumblr_oian8eg77z1vkbtkio5_500

Overall the first week of 2017 has been pretty great. Already a huge improvement on last year. Hopefully all of you are enjoying the new year!

November Wrap Up

Sooo I finally went and got myself an audible account. Which is why half the books I read this month were audiobooks. I like that I can get them cheaper if I own the kindle book. Even if I just borrow the ebook through my library, it will give me a discount which is awesome.

  • The Mirror Sisters by VC Andrews –
  • The Making of Outlander by Tara Bennett – ★★
  • Leave Me by Gayle Forman – ★★
  • Heartless by Marissa Meyer – ★★
  • The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer –
  • Twilight by Stephenie Meyer – ★★★
  • New Moon by Stephenie Meyer – ★★★
  • Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer – ★★★

Total Books: 8
Average Rating: ★★☆ (4.1 stars)

Leave Me was probably my favorite from this month. Heartless was also super good but Leave Me really stood out since it was Gayle Forman’s first adult novel. And then while I was reading The Chemist I just kept thinking “This is alright but also I’d just rather be reading Twilight again.” Sooo… that’s how I accidentally ended up rereading the series. I’m about a 1/4 through Breaking Dawn and also halfway through Voyager so those will definitely be on my December wrap up.

I don’t really have an actual TBR for December. I think I’m just going to try to read some short, fast-paced books. So far in 2016 I’ve read 86 books… my goal was just 25. It might be a bit of a reach to go for 100 but maybe I can get to 95?

What did you read this month? Any books you’re hoping to receive during the holidays?
